Sara Fanelli

Sara Fanelli's work experiments with text and collage, her backgrounds are often pieces of paper torn from exercise books, graph paper and wallpaper, usually stained or marked in some way. I like how that gives a roughness to her work, like a journal or scrap book feel. Her illustrations are abstract, she sticks bits cut from photographs, pieces of fabric, snippets of newsprint and other media to create creatures or pictures. I see her illustrations as quite a child-like style, she uses her imagination on her pages.

This illustration fits very well with my theme for this unit. I love how the big top is made from different medias and the characters going into it, looking quite abstract. I like the text on the floor, I'd like to use this in some of my illustrations in future.
